The Very Big Bushwalk – Horseshoe Bend (Brimbank Park)
April 18, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 amFree
To celebrate Premiers Active April, Parks Victoria is hosting the Very Big Bushwalk – a range of short bushwalks to be held simultaneously at numerous locations right around the State!
Ever wanted to try a family bushwalk but don’t know where to start or where to go? Keen to meet new people so you can explore your local parks together? Feel like you lack the experience, know how or fitness to complete a walk? Want to find out about accessible walks? Why not join a Parks Victoria Ranger for an easy grade, short bushwalk that’s suitable for the whole family!
Horseshoe Bend is a serene place to experience nature. We will meet at the homestead, an original 1930’s weatherboard cottage, and then follow a firm gravel trail down to the Maribyrnong River. From here it is mostly flat and follows the river in a loop, where we can spot wildlife, including many bird varieties, and sometimes shy wallabies. The walk will take about an hour.
Please bring water, sunscreen, insect repellent and wear suitable clothing and enclosed shoes (no thongs).
Please meet at Horseshoe Bend (at the end of Horseshoe Bend Road, Keilor). Park along the road side, then walk through a pedestrian gate, meeting the ranger at the homestead (about 200m from the gate).
Please note that each attending adult and child will need to book a separate ticket for this activity.
