CANCELLED – Nature Play Week 2020 Launch Event

March 28, 2020 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Free

In the light of the current COVID-19 virus developments, Kids In Nature Network and Hume City Council have decided to cancel the Nature Play Week 2020 Launch Event on March 28.

However, recognising that being out in nature is good for our physical and mental health and that of children, we are encouraging everyone to continue to go outside and play in nature responsibly. We are not cancelling Nature Play Week 2020, but will focus our campaign on sharing inspiring, simple ideas for local nature play.

We will leave it to each organisation hosting events to decide whether their event can go ahead responsibly. We ask event organisers to put infection risk preventative measures in place for their event, or make adaptations to their current events, such as limiting the number of attendees, ensuring all attendees are healthy and bring their own picnic rugs, water, food and hand sanitiser.

There are many simple and fun nature play activities you can do yourself in your backyard or local park. Kids In Nature Network will share ideas and resources for activities throughout Nature Play Week. Please share your ideas/vids/resources with us, so we can share them far and wide. We look forward to hearing from you!

Nature Play Week’s official inauguration will this year take place in the beautiful Woodlands Historic Park in Greenvale. Co-organised with Hume City Council, the event will start off with an official opening from Hume’s Mayor Carly Moore and local community champions promoting nature play in the area. Followed by a lots of amazing nature activities such as cubby building, tree climbing and bush tucker walks and a guest appearance of Dirt Girl!!!
