Junior Nature Club – “The Little Things”
April 18, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am$20 – $25
The Junior Nature Club has been engaging young people with nature for over four years. Christina is a zoologist come environmental educator and founder of Leap into Nature. Christina aims to engage children in their learning and excite their sense of wonder in the natural world. This session is one of three sessions that will be running during Term 2, 2018. Session 1: Nature Play Week – “The Little Things” This session is based on the beautifully illustrated children’s book, “The Little Things that Run the City” created through a collaborative project on urban biodiversity in the City of Melbourne. The session also links to the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal # 15 Life on Land. http://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/ Children who attend will enjoy understanding more about the little things that run the world, aka insects! How insects provide important benefits for the environment as well as our own health and wellbeing. We will do a bug hunt and undertake an art project based on our insect investigations. Children will also be able to socialise, engage in free nature play time with their peers and enjoy time outside.
