Homeschoolers, connect with, contribute to and care for nature on a privately owned Land care property – Mt.Martha
April 11, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pmFree
You are invited to explore this magnificent property with your children. Meet Landcare owner Tony and Narelle from “Natured Kids’, both nature mentors and local teachers. Come on a free tour with us to see the projects you can participate in with your homeschooled kids each Thursday during term 2. We have 10 weeks of natural connections and contributions planned for your children who will have opportunities to construct a bush tucker garden (drawing from wisdom of local Aboriginal elders) and work towards restoring lost habitat for our ‘tree-hollow nesting fauna’ by building boxes for sugar gliders, micro bats, wild ducks and parrots. All children attending this special introductory ‘free’ day during ‘Nature Play Week’ will contribute to permaculture in the fruit forest by helping construct a beneficial bug hotel and planting habitat for local lizards, whilst gaining inspiration for creative and purposeful ways to help our natural environment in the near future. Please wear hats and sunscreen, bring a backpack with a packed lunch, water and snacks as a family picnic will conclude this session that borders the beautiful Balcombe Creek Estuary.
